Stonewall Democrats Hold GLBT Caucus
Discuss challenges and elect new officers

Casper, WY – Last night at the Wyoming Democratic Party 2010 Convention, the Stonewall Democrats of Wyoming gathered for a GLBT caucus.

The group was addressed by Raymond Buckley, Chair of the New Hampshire Democratic Party and of the Association of State Democratic Chairs. Buckley shared the challenges he faced as an openly gay man during his youth and through his political career.

Buckley spoke passionately about the need for such measures as anti-bullying and anti-discrimination legislation. He also reaffirmed the commitment of President Obama and the Democratic Party to the GLBT community. “I know the President, and I know this administration, and they are friends of the community,” said Buckley.

The Stonewall Democrats also held elections for officers. Serving for the next two years will be: Lauren Danley, President; Ernie Over, Vice President; Kevin Franken, Secretary; Vickie Goodwin, Treasurer, and two Members at Large Larissa Sneider and Bob Warburton.

The Stonewall Democrats was organized in Wyoming in early 2009 and meets annually. According to the group’s bylaws all political affiliations are welcome to join and participate. The Stonewall Democrats of Wyoming is the only GLBT politically active group in the state and is in good standing with the national Stonewall Democrats.

All those interested in joining the Stonewall Democrats of Wyoming can contact Bob Warburton at bobw7@bresnan.net or Lauren Danley at laurendtskwe@hotmail.com or 307-421-3705 (cell).
